Randy Orton Wins the Royal Rumble Match and More Questions are asked Afterwords and comments about Roman Reigns

We saw the debut of a red hot Tye Dillinger from NXT. We didn't not see the debut of a Samoa Joe getting called up to the main roster. and No real big surprises. They could have spared a Calisto for some more spots for up and coming talent. Still the favorites didn't win, the underdogs didn't win, and some surprises did happen in the Rumble.

For example, I didn't expect John Cena to win his 16th title and dethrone AJ Styles, this leaves his slot up in the air during WrestleMania and he is guaranteed another title match afterwards. This caught me by surprise because I thought the WWE would put faith into AJ who has held that show of Smackdown up and ratings were good because of him. I'm not sure if it was a trading wins or loss thing, but they didn't put faith with him to be their go home guy, just as they didn't put trust in CM Punk to be the go home guy at the Rumble before then.

I am sure they are planning something, but I don't know what they are planning.

And Kevins Owens won after Braun helped him.

Brock was eliminated by Goldberg.
Goldberg was eliminated by Undertaker
Roman eliminated the Undertaker

This has the makings for an interesting setting for matches leaving more matches to have more questions being made afterwards.

Still The Elimination Chamber is coming and the winner that I didn't expect to win actually won which was Randy Orton.

Now who do we see another Randy Orton and John Cena match we have seen that several thousand times before and if it is a new era someone from the new era should be champion going into WrestleMania. And I would like to see a Bray vs. Luke Harper vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Title during WrestleMania. But this leaves the Question who does John Cena face.

I thought we would have clear answers, but the Rumble only throws you off more.

One match is certain

Seth vs. HHH.

As each week unfolds we will know. Does Undertaker get revenge on Roman Reigns taking him out of championship position, We can't see a Roman vs. Kevin Owens match again. They pushed Roman down our throats that he is better off being a heel as I said a long time ago amongst friends. I don't like him in the role he is in. I feel he could have an edge and would be a better heel champion than Kevin Owens. He is not The Rock and he can't be compared to him. He is a glorified big guy with an attitude and he needs to be in a role where people can shut him up. I am sick of this guy getting the push because of his family. I respect his family bloodline, but I don't respect that he is playing a role that he is not fit for.

Roman got the championship belt and Paul Orndorff a proven great in the ring based on his toughness never got the belt and also Rowdy Roddy Piper never got the belt. They were greats and deserved it. And Roman got it when he didn't pay his dues as these wrestlers have.

So if anyone wonders and says Roman never paid his dues, well he went to school and he got there, but a great wrestler will know how to be both a heel and face. This is what made Hulk Hogan good. I know this is a rant on Roman and I didn't want to go into it, but Roman being a face and this big deal based on his poor negative attitude upsets me. He lacks the charisma. I could picture Enzo more in the role that Roman is in or even a Sami Zayn.

Didn't mean to get on a rant about Roman, but something about him in the role he plays irritates me. He grew up in the business and I am sure he takes his blood seriously, but he has to be a bad guy. His Dad was a bad guy he should work of his attitude he grew up with elaborate and don't fake.

With The Rumble done, I wasn't impressed. It had a surprise ended, but it goes to show that they have a glass ceiling effect still into play. The have some one who is established have the championship belt in John Cena and then another established star who has been in it such as Randy Orton. I don't know if they are going backwards or back in time and are looking at the stars who have been there to be there again. But eventually Vince will have to let the new era take over. And you can't suppress it.

Believe it or not besides the Cruiserweights, Only a few Superstars made their debut on the Main Roster besides women. Raw has been lacking in their talent pull and very easily a Samoa Joe who is long overdue can be called up as their other stars including Shinsake Nakamura. But we will see.

I will add this. It is unfair for these Superstars to come and just wrestle when they haven't been their for awhile just to be in a WrestleMania. Undertaker I could see because he is an attraction kind of like how Andre the Giant was. HHH always has his match and the other stars. And I know their will be the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

The ending might have not been what is expected and the people who won, you say wtf, but if it's any indicator the WWE will turn blunders and make it into gold going into WrestleMania. We even saw The Miz vs. John Cena remember that. So anything is possible.

Run Down with the My Surprise Picks and My Picks to Win for the Royal Rumble Match

With the Royal Rumble coming up in San Antonio it means WrestleMania Season is upon us. The Royal Rumble has been my favorite match all year and it has that feel to it and with it being the 30th year they are pulling no stops.

Here is what we know.

The Undertaker
Brock Lesner
Goldberg
Big Show
Randy Orton
Dean Ambrose
Chris Jericho
Bray Wyatt
Rusev
Big Cass and Enzo
All of New Day
Luke Harper
Mojo Rawley
The Miz
Sheamus and Cesaro
Anderson and Gallows
Dolph Ziglar
The Lone Wolf Baron Corbin
Braun Strowman
and Sami Zayn

Which leaves room for about 4 more superstars who will enter the Royal Rumble, which means possible surprises NXT call ups former legends you name it there is always a surprise with the Rumble

First let me get to My 3 picks from NXT that I say will be in the Royal Rumble.

1. Samoa Joe: I feel Samoa Joe is ready and has been ready and now his run from NXT is coming to an end and someone like him is ready for a run he should have had many years ago.  He is a  Big Guy and added to this Royal Rumble he would be a good name to make an impact as he would this time.

2. Shinsake Nakamura or Booby Roode: I feel one of these wrestlers would get the call up atleast to make an appearance to be on the main Roster for WrestleMania. Both athletes are proven to be on the main roster and they would be ready to make an impact the coming year.

3. Finn Balor: If he is back and healthy. He would be ready to make an impact and would do what is necessary to make that impact in what would be his first Royal Rumble match.

4. Kane: Kane has a proven track record with the number of eliminations and he can only add to his record this Rumble.

5.  Kenny Omega: Who unseated AJ Styles as leader of the Bullet Club. And he said he is ready to win if they pick him to be in it.

With last minute changes and surprises a lot could happen and could impact the Rumble. The Prize at stake is going to be The Universal Championship or The WWE Championship should they decide where to go. It will be interesting and the surprises should there be many will be unexpected.

My choices to with the Favorite and the Sleeper pick

My choice or favorite to win the Royal Rumble is The Undertaker I feel if they are setting up the winner of a John Cena or AJ Styles match it will happen just the mere possibilities going into WrestleMania.

My Sleeper Pick is Sami Zayn: Sami Zayn is the Underdog and he would benefit a lot from fighting at the Main Event of WrestleMania. He is ready for a Hot Streak and rather it is Owens should he win Sunday or AJ Styles or John Cena it will be a Good Match. Sami Zayn takes the place of someone like a Daniel Bryan who was that underdog and they need and Underdog right now.

There are many possibilities going into WrestleMania these are just a few. Next week after Raw and Smackdown I will talk about the possibilities of Matches going into WrestleMania and try to have a possible Drafted card going into the biggest spectacular of them all.

Roman Reigns Promo on Raw Last Night

I just have to comment on this blog about Roman Reigns Promo last night on Raw and add what made wrestling great in the hay day at the end of WCW and why it is better then now and why anyone of the young talent could cut a better promo then Roman.

First off, for those who are giving Roman his shot, he might be able to wrestle, but he is not a good talker and shouldn't be put in those situations. Sheamus made him look like a fool out there and he was carrying Roman. Roman could not carry a promo and botched up every chance he had. Even when Big Poppa Pump or Sid Vicious were carrying their promos it was their gimmick to botch and they did very well.

Roman tried and couldn't defend himself good and was unsure of his role. When WWE is struggling, he needs be out of that position that he is in, because he was dominated promo wise by Sheamus. And the said thing is I could cut a better promo then him and I am not a professional wrestler.

He comes from the famous bloodline, but he would be better as a heel or a right hand man to the heel. He is not a failure, but he should be put in the role that suits him well and this role right now makes him look like an idiot. He doesn't have Dean Ambrose to cover him with promos and Dean should be in the position that Roman is in.

But WWE doesn't have good storyteller and they don't know who plays good in what role and they don't make any heel turns anymore. This is what keep wrestling good in it's hey day. There was a turn all the time in the Monday Night War period. There were swerves and the product was not stagnant. Bottomline is if you want to make money and have the feuds be meaningful you need to have swerves. There were swerves in the WCW, but it got stagnant. This is what the product is right now and you could only put many bandaids on the product such as bringing in star talent. Eventually they are going to have to create stars or see stars that they have and give them a run despite personal problems.

And with Roman in that main event role it's not good. A Baby Face needs to know how to act like a baby face. Roman clearly is not playing that role well. It's true Daniel Bryan filling that role before, but he knew how to play that role and everyone acted in unison. But now people don't act in unison and their is even hate towards Roman Reigns and he is not a convincing baby face and I cringe every time he gets on the mic. When Bret Hart got on the mic he knew how to cut a promo and this guy doesn't.

I know it seems I'm rambling on about this, but people knew how to be faces before, they need to look at old promos from WWF, and the NWA for promos. They knew how to cut them and fans went crazy over them. Now there is disconnect. Fans grew up with the Attitude Era so wrestlers who fit that mold like Bray and Dean work even Bubba Dudley. Bryan even worked. And the legends who cut the promos didn't have a split crowd, they had the crowd rooting or cheering for the them in unison. And a baby face does not have heat like Roman.

My Website Change for The Temple of Wrestling

I haven't posted on this wrestling website for awhile. I apologize, I have been busy with other writing projects. However, wrestling is still a thing that I enjoy to watch and I have been in discussion with my friends who are avid wrestling fans to write this blog with me. It will be in a different form than what most blogs would be, but the format will be me giving a brief summary of the topic and then a transcript of the group text message conversation between me and my friends.

My friend whose name will be mentioned at a certain time found that this technique has been used by Grantland and it is if that all can't be in the same place at one time, but wish to cover a lot of ground.

I am excited for this. I get to have the conversations that I enjoy with my friends and I get to post it with something that I enjoy. We have a lot of topics to cover and I know that our take can add to the perspective of what wrestling is all about. We will discuss some of the 70's straight to today. We have been watching wrestling since we were little kids and our take on wrestling is not the regular take. We remember when there were a lot of managers in wrestling, we remember the end days of the territories where it seemed like wrestling was on every channel. It was before corporations ran wrestling and dictated what was politically correct. Even though the views were racy, it should be added that this was going on in society at the time and I know they were right at times. However, the brilliance of wrestling is that they could get the fans to hate the heel, but at the end of the day they would root for the good guy or anti establishment person.

This is just the tip of the iceberg on what will be discussed in this blog.

The Temple of Wrestling is a statement. It's not that we worship wrestling as a religion, but it is bringing ancient philosophy and commentary to an art form such as wrestling. I personally want to thank my friends who are volunteering for this just for the sake they enjoy wrestling and want their views posted.

This is The Temple of Wrestling Blog.

On Article in Market Watch About who will take over after Vince McMahon

This is my comment on article by Kevin Riley entitled Analyst on WWE: The Company 'May Have To Look Outside For A CEO'

First off in article he is saying that HHH and Stephanie McMahon aren't being introduced to investors as them taking over the business.

I just want to say this HHH and Stephanie McMahon know what they are doing and they have been trained for their jobs. I first want to give a back story of Vince McMahon and his company before I address this statement. I watched the Austin Podcast and saw the McMahon history unfold before my eyes. Around the time I was born Vince wanted to get into his Dad's company. His Dad didn't want him in the company, but he got chosen to go in. Vince was unprepared for what his life would be like and he was a visionary. He took the WWE to height unheard of and sure I routed for WCW, but Vince came out on top. He managed a company that went global and sure he made lots of mistakes that nearly cost him his business, but he bounced back.

Vince as what Jesse Ventura called Vince Jr. The PT Barnum of this time on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory. He not only revolutionized wrestling, he revolutionized the world. Politicians, Sports Athletes, and every sporting event come out to their own theme music. UFC took a lot of tricks from Vince. And your not telling me Vince hadn't thought about who is going to take over his company.

HHH also said on the Stone Cold Steve Austin Podcast that Vince gave him the developmental, NXT, he understands the business and he understands how to get people over and he understands the behind the scenes with the show. He worked the gimmick of Daniel Bryan. HHH has been in the business for 20 years + and has learned a lot as Stephanie has. Vince was doing most of it alone. His wife was there, but didn't take as much interest in the product as Vince. However, you have a couple working together in unison on one product. If you remember where Vince was where he started and what he did for wrestling and remember, he and his wife bought the company, and now to a global company he has done a lot.

However, I want to give you evidence of someone who went into the wrestling business and failed because they knew nothing about how to run a wrestling promotion. It is the story of WCW. Ted Turner bought WCW and put a President in charge. Some of them knew nothing about wrestling and put a booker in charge who eventually had everyone booking the show. Only one who made a profit was Eric Bischoff, but they would not let him do what he needed to do to catch up to WWE, because of Time Warner.

See as Eric Bischoff put in his book Controversy Creates Cash, Time Warner wasn't out to eliminate wrestling, they want the Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Braves, and most of the sports off TV.

And now 15 years later all that is on TBS is comedies which are in reruns, two new shows, movies, which the same movies air all the time and etc.

I don't even know what the hell is on TNT. The first time I watched it was when Dallas came back on TV.

Ted Turner was a CEO who was outside the business and you see what happened. And I know Vince wouldn't put Eric Bischoff or Hogan to run his business.

So you see. Maybe, the best candidates would be HHH and Stephanie. You need someone to eat, sleep and breathe the business. Other promoters wouldn't understand the business and you need someone young and in shape for that business.

HHH might not be ideal for that position some would say, but he has NXT as his accomplishment. He has talent just sitting waiting for the call. WCW had the power plant, but WWE has a minor league system.

And I think, creating a Dean Ambrose, Daniel Bryan, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Rusev, Luke Harper, and other talent such as Big E Langston Just to name a few who made it.

Let's face it talent doesn't last that long in the WWE and they might go elsewhere such as TNA, but lets face it the only promotion in town is the WWE. As Vince says they are Sports Entertainment. They are competing with everyone. They needed a streaming network in order to compete with the online market.

Kevin Riley says that someone should take over WWE and be the CEO after Vince, but Vince ain't dead yet. He loves this business and will do what it takes for it to succeed after he leaves this world. And I believe he has trained HHH and Stephanie well should they take over the business. Only Time will tell.

The Change in the Fans of Wrestling

It has been known that wrestling fans could shape the scope of who they like and don't. In the 80's, they routed for Hulk Hogan and cheered and booed for Ric Flair, they know who to cheer for and who to boo. It was black and white, their was no shades of grey. There was a balance.

I usually identify with the wrestling fans as an indicator of culture and cultures values. They will listen to a chrasmatic leader. They are the indicators of change and have predicted many things in society. They choose their heroes.
What is going on now is scary because Bray Wyatt is becoming popular like a cult hero. He reminds me of Raven, but Raven was booed. However, Bray is cheered. And they cheered him Rowen and Harper as they beat and won against John Cena all was legal. This society rejects the heroes they push down on us. They reject the phony heroes who live well even though they work hard. No knock on John Cena, he has done a lot for the business and has kept it going when wrestling wasn't popular, but maybe they think of him because of that. He held on to the throne and he has given many people a shot. But still, he has been good for too long in a society that is mixed on him and a wrestling world that is changing. John Cena carried the weight and now a whole company can is capable of carrying the weight.

Bray Wyatt is anti culture. and Anti Culture is big right now. Where John Cena is equivalent to Captain America, Bray Wyatt, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk are equivalent to X Men. It's societies celebrities are Lady Gaga, Johnny Depp, and Miley Cyrus and they are big right now. We are changing and counter culture is becoming big because the world is not right and it's rebelling against what is right.

We are a society that has turned Batman to the darkside and in a way it's fitting because the heroes are the villains in society. I know this to be true because they cheered when three guys beat up one man and perhaps they did they during the nWo days. And they cheered for DX.

The fact is our society is changing and they are more blatant in their cheers. And this generation coming up values what I value. I cheer for The Shield and Daniel Bryan and I even like Luke Harper. Their is no doubt they are great performers and they become the standard and have become big. They fight for a purpose. They had to turn the heat up in order for everyone to perform better. The Shield is like DX and Daniel Bryan is like Stone Cold. The only difference they are doing more right now.

What happens with societies values and why is it rebelling. Maybe because we are told what to think and the rich have all the money, they don't know how to work everything seems that it is easy for them. Someone who has an honest job can't make it any more. Someone with two jobs can't do it either and we have a problem on our hands. People are rebelling and want change. They want a better way of living.

It reminds me of what The Shield said about Evolution on the post game show. Their heart's aren't in it as they were before and their minds are everywhere else and sitting on their millions of dollars. This is what is wrong with the world. The rich have made it, but don't know how it is to be poor and hungry. This is why their is change in what is wrong with the world and why the fans have changed. I don't think it's wrong. I think balance needs to be restored in this world.

The Ultimate Warrior is Immortalized Forever

As many know for now, The Ultimate Warrior has past away yesterday and like the many wrestlers who passed on before him. He left a huge legacy behind. I'm not going to discuss his biggest achievement as beating Hulk Hogan in WrestleMania VI and it was, but I'm going to discuss what he said at the Hall of Fame three days before he passed on. It was where he want an award at the Hall of Fame dedicated to a person behind the scenes in WWE that has dedicated their life in making that production.

This is what makes the Ultimate Warrior who he was. On the biggest night of his life he thought about others and he thought about those that are not seen that make the show what it is. People spend a lot of time helping the wrestlers rather it is a mentor such as a former wrestler or a mentor in the person setting up the ring. For them their passion is to be a part of the show and it is their dream come true. They don't have to be seen, but their impact is seen all through their many matches. The Jimmy Merenda award. I might have his name pronounced wrong, but forgive me.

The Ultmate Warrior did a lot for wrestling. Mainly what he did to inspire the fans. I know a few people close to me were Ultimate Warrior fans. They believe in his message. They were routing for him to beat Hulk. And he deserves his place in the Hall of Fame.

I'll miss his youtube videos. He was always telling his fans to do something with their lives and not sit and do nothing. To act if you want to live your dreams. Many of the wrestlers today grew up to idolize The Ultimate Warrior and it's a shame he is gone. But he will live that legacy as a man and he left the power in the hands of the people as at the Final Raw of his life, he left the fans as the storytellers of it all.

Wrestling has changed and they have problems with booking with fans they can't please. This world has changed as The Ultimate Warrior departed. Maybe it wants to change and it needed to find it's soul again as The Ultimate Warrior reminded us one last time. He will be missed.
